The 13th annual Great Hduman Race
hosted by The Volunteer Center of Durham
Saturday, March 29th 2008 at 9:30am
Now in its 13th year, the Great Human Race is a fundraiser for all Triangle area nonprofits. Hosted by the Volunteer Center of Durham, the race is in two parts: a 5K competitive run/walk and a 5K non-competitive walk for nonprofits and their supporters. When an agency joins the Great Human Race they not only join with their nonprofit partners in their own community, but they also join with agencies in other Human Races all across North America. In this way, the Great Human Race is not only a fundraiser, but a demonstration of community by nonprofit and public organizations all across our continent!
Each year approximately 500 runners and competitive walkers come from around North Carolina to compete for prizes in the Great Human Race. Participants can also make a donation to their favorite registered nonprofit or public agency in addition to their enrollment fee, and are invited to stay afterward to join in the celebration!
Visit the runners page or walkers page for more information and to register.
The Great Human Race is an ideal fundraiser for area nonprofits. Agencies receive all of the fundraising materials they will need to be successful from the Volunteer Center of Durham.
On race day, agency representatives and their friends will walk the 5K course under the banner of their organization. This is always a fun media event, and the most energetic groups tend to be remembered for years afterward! The Great Human Race is a great way to raise some money, meet your fellow nonprofits, and promote your mission to the community.
