Similar to the Big Sib Program, LINKS is also a mentor program for at-risk children in the foster system. These children are matched with positive role models who spend several hours a week with them for at least one year. LINKS is a system of support for these youth and provides opportunities for personal growth, cultural and social awareness, academic improvement, and educational attainment through the use of nurturing one-on-one relationships.

Objectives:

•   Provide DSS Clients with a one-on-one nurturing relationship with     a dedicated, mature, positive adult role model

•   Create an awareness of and appreciation for social and cultural          programs;

•   Foster personal growth

•   Improve academic performance

•   Assist youth in developing life skills for a healthy and productive         future
